First login on Truckscanner

After completing registration and verifying your email, the first login on Truckscanner takes you straight to your company dashboard. In the first few minutes you'll meet three one-time automations designed to keep the platform within reach (welcome popup, notification prompt, "Save Truckscanner" card) and an interface with two fixed areas (sidebar on the left, header on top) that we'll reuse across every other guide. This page is the quick map.

What pops up on first login (in order)

The three automations below trigger in the first 5-10 seconds on the home — they don't break the page, don't block you, and once dismissed never come back on the same browser.

1. Welcome popup (when active)

If there's a relevant communication for your role at that moment (new feature launch, operational notice, scheduled maintenance), a modal dialog appears at the center of the screen. Title and copy come from the Truckscanner team — the popup is filtered by audience (you only see it if you're in the target) and almost always show-once-per-user (once dismissed, you don't see it again).

What you do:

  1. Read the title and description.
  2. If there's a call-to-action button (e.g. "Learn more", "Open guide") click to open the link in a new tab.
  3. To close click outside the dialog or press Esc.

On a normal day no popup may appear at all: it's used sparingly.

2. "Enable notifications" prompt

After about 4 seconds from page load a branded toast appears in the top right corner with a bell icon and two buttons:

  • Title: "Enable notifications"
  • Body: "Get alerts about new loads, transport status, and problems in real time — even when Truckscanner isn't open."
  • Primary lime button: "Enable notifications"
  • Secondary text button: "Not now"

What happens depending on your choice:

1

You click «Enable notifications»

The browser's native prompt fires ("truckscanner.ai wants to send you notifications — Allow / Block"). If you allow, you see a green toast "Notifications enabled — you'll receive them in real time". From then on you receive operating-system push (Mac, Windows, Android) even with Truckscanner closed.

2

You click «Not now»

The toast closes and is snoozed for 7 days on the current browser. It will reappear at the next login once snooze expires. No notifications are sent in the meantime.

3

You've previously blocked notifications in the browser

If in the past you clicked "Block" on the native prompt, clicking "Enable notifications" now shows a red toast "You have blocked notifications in your browser. To enable them, change the permissions from the site settings." You need to unblock them manually from the browser settings (the lock icon next to the URL → "Site permissions" → "Notifications: Allow").

3. "Welcome to Truckscanner" dialog — Save the platform

With about 1.2 seconds delay from load, a modal welcome dialog opens:

  • Title: "Welcome to Truckscanner"
  • Body: "Get back here faster next time. Save Truckscanner the way your colleagues prefer."
  • Contains the "Save Truckscanner" card in compact mode (the three options described below).
  • Footer with "Later" button to dismiss.

What you do:

  1. Pick one or more of the three options (see next section — they're cumulative, not exclusive).
  2. When done click "Later", the X at the top, or click outside the dialog.
  3. The dialog is marked as seen (localStorage key ts-first-login-install-shown) and never reopens on this browser, even if you didn't install anything.

The three ways to "Save Truckscanner"

The card offers three different and independent ways to reach the platform faster. Pick whichever fits how you work — none is mandatory, and you can activate all three.

Option 1 — Bookmark in your browser

The fastest option if you work from Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari on a computer and already use the bookmarks bar. Truckscanner ends up one click away from your start screen.

How to do it (the card automatically shows the right keyboard shortcut for your operating system):

  • On Mac: press + D while on the Truckscanner home.
  • On Windows / Linux: press Ctrl + D.
  • The browser's bookmark dialog opens. Confirm the name (keep "Truckscanner" or customize it).
  • Pick the "Bookmarks bar" folder if you want to see it always at the top of the browser.
  • Click "Save" / "Done".

From now on the Truckscanner icon appears in your browser's bookmarks bar: one click and you're in.

Option 2 — Install Truckscanner as a desktop app (PWA)

Truckscanner is a Progressive Web App: you can install it as a real application on your computer. It opens in its own window with no browser bar, shows up in the Dock (Mac), Start menu (Windows) or Launcher (Linux), and runs even with all Chrome tabs closed.

The card button changes label and behavior based on your browser:

Browser stateButton labelWhat happens on click
Chrome / Edge / Brave / Opera (Chromium)"Install app"Native "Install Truckscanner?" prompt fires → confirm → app appears in Dock / Start
Safari on iPhone / iPad"Add to Home"Opens an in-app dialog with 3-step instructions (Share → "Add to Home Screen" → Confirm)
Firefox desktop, Safari macOS"Not available on this browser" (disabled)Browser doesn't support PWA install — use bookmark + mobile app
Truckscanner already installed"Already installed" (disabled)Open Truckscanner from Dock / Start instead of the browser

Option 3 — Mobile app for drivers

The third option of the card shows the store badges. Important: this is the Truckscanner Driver App, the application dedicated to the carrier's drivers — not a mobile version of the dashboard.

What the driver app does:

  • Drivers confirm pickup and delivery of assigned loads.
  • They share GPS location in real time during the trip (the dispatcher sees it on the map).
  • They receive push notifications about new orders, route changes, problems.

Current state of the badges:

  • Google Play (Android): badge active. Click on it → opens the Play Store page.
  • App Store (iOS): gray badge with "iOS coming soon" label — the iOS app is in publication.

For the mobile dashboard (forwarders, clients, carriers managing the fleet) just use your phone's browser at truckscanner.ai: the dashboard is responsive and works from a smartphone, even though the best experience remains on desktop.

The interface you see: sidebar + header

Once the three welcome automations are out of the way, the interface that follows you in every page always has the same structure: sidebar on the left, header on top, content in the middle.

The sidebar (left column)

The sidebar contains the full navigation menu of the platform. The visible items depend on your company type (carrier / forwarder / client) and your team role (admin, operator, readonly).

From top to bottom the sidebar is organized like this:

1

Sidebar header (top)

Clickable Truckscanner logo (always takes you to your company home) and a small arrow button to collapse the sidebar to an icon-only column (more space for the page). Click again to expand.

2

«Home» item

Always the first item, common to every role. Takes you to the company welcome dashboard with KPI, calendar, recent activity and — yes — the "Save Truckscanner" card.

3

Operational groups (vary by role)

The actual work menu, grouped by area. The group names and the item list change depending on the company role — see the map below.

4

«Company» group (lower)

"Company settings", "Local units" (forwarders and clients only), "User management" (to invite colleagues to your team), "Billing" (carriers and forwarders).

5

Sidebar footer (bottom)

If you belong to multiple companies you see a company switcher with the current company logo and the "Switch context" label: clicking it lets you jump between companies. Below it sits your user profile with avatar, full name and role: clicking it opens the menu with "Profile", "Notification preferences", "Privacy and consents", "Logout".

Below "Home" you find two groups:

  • Fleet & Operations: "Load preferences", "Drivers", "Vehicles", "Documents", "Transport orders".
  • AI Agents - Leo & Sara: "Fleet calendar", "Fleet tracking".

Further down the "Company" group with "Company settings", "User management", "Billing".

The header (top row)

The header is a thin bar above page content. From left to right:

  1. Hamburger button — collapses or expands the sidebar (handy on medium and mobile screens).
  2. Current page title — changes automatically based on the active sidebar item (e.g. "Loads", "Transport orders", "Vehicles").

On the right side of the header (always visible on desktop, some items collapse on mobile):

  1. Search — button with magnifying-glass icon, "Search" label and visible shortcut ⌘ K (the combo works both with ⌘ K on Mac and Ctrl K on Windows / Linux, even though the button only shows the glyph). Opens the global search palette: type at least 2 characters to search across your company's Carriers, Drivers, Vehicles, Loads, Warehouses, Transport orders at once. Click a result to jump to its detail.
  2. Language switch — selector with the current language flag. Click → menu with all supported languages. The choice is saved on your profile and persists across browsers and devices. Default: Italian.
  3. Notification bell — shows a red dot with counter if you have unread notifications. Click → popover with the latest 5 notifications. Click on one: it's marked as read, and if it has a linked document you're sent straight to its page. At the bottom of the popover: "Mark all as read" and "View all". The bell is not present on /admin/* pages (superadmin section).
  4. Light/dark theme — sun/moon button. Click → cycles through light, dark, system (follows OS preference).

What happens after first login

Once you've dismissed the three automations and taken a quick look at sidebar and header:

  • The "already seen" flags are saved in the current browser's localStorage. If you switch browser or clear site data, the welcome dialog and the notifications prompt will reappear (the notification snooze lasts 7 days, the welcome dialog is permanent until next storage clear).
  • Install choices (PWA, bookmarks) are permanent until you uninstall the app or remove the bookmark.
  • Active notifications also reach you with the browser closed (Chrome, Edge, Firefox desktop, Android Chrome). On iOS only if you installed Truckscanner as an app from the Home Screen.
  • From here onwards you can navigate the platform — the next stop depends on your company role. Go to the role-specific guide:
