Once you have created a load you are not stuck with how it started: as long as it is a draft you can reopen it and change every field, you can duplicate it to start from a copy without re-entering everything, and you can delete it if you no longer need it. This page gathers the three management actions for an existing load — edit, duplicate, delete — all reachable from the «Loads» list.
Three distinct flows on the same screen: how to reopen a draft to edit it and save it again, how to duplicate a load (even an already-assigned one) to clone it into a new draft, and how to delete a draft with the confirmation dialog. To create a load from scratch see the dedicated creation guides.
Before you start
- A forwarder account with the
ADMINorOPERATORrole on your company. - The three actions live in the last column of the table in the Operational & Transport → Loads section. Which actions you see depends on the row status: «Edit» and «Delete» apply only to loads in
Draft; «Duplicate» is always available, in any status.
Editing a draft
A load in Draft status is fully editable: you can change stops, goods, dates, price and notes as many times as you want before sending it to dispatching or assigning it.
1. Open the draft for editing
In the «Loads» list click the row of the Draft load you want to change. The same panel you use to create it reopens, already pre-filled with all the data: at the top the title becomes «Edit load LD-XXXXXXXX» with the load code.
2. Change the data and save
Edit the fields you want — stops, goods, offered price, notes. When you are done, click «UPDATE DRAFT» at the bottom left of the panel: unlike a new load (where the button reads «SAVE DRAFT»), here it saves the changes to the existing draft. The code LD-XXXXXXXX stays the same.
If you close the panel — with the ×, with Esc or by clicking outside — after touching
anything, Truckscanner intercepts you with the «Unsaved changes» dialog and three choices:
«Cancel» (you stay in the panel), «Discard changes» (you lose the edits), «Save draft
and close» (saves and closes in one click).
Clicking a load already dispatching or assigned does not reopen the edit panel: it opens a read-only detail drawer. Once the load is in progress, its data can no longer be edited from this screen.
Duplicating a load
When you often organise the same kind of transport — the same route, the same client, similar goods — there is no need to re-enter everything: duplicate an existing load and start from a copy.
1. Click the «Duplicate» action
In the list, in the last column of the row, click the «Duplicate» icon (two overlapping sheets).
Unlike «Edit» and «Delete», the «Duplicate» action is available on any load, not only on drafts: you can clone an already-assigned or completed load too.
2. Review and save the new draft
Truckscanner opens the creation panel pre-filled with the data of the source load, but as a new load: it gets a fresh LD-XXXXXXXX code and the dates are cleared, because a repeated transport always has a different date. Update the pickup and delivery dates, tweak whatever changes from the original and click «SAVE DRAFT». A new Draft row appears in the list, independent from the load you duplicated.
Deleting a draft
If a draft is no longer useful — you created it by mistake, the transport fell through — you can delete it.
1. Click the «Delete» action
In the list, in the last column of the draft row, click the «Delete» icon (the trash can) — it is the last of the four icons, highlighted as (2) in the screenshot of the previous step.
2. Confirm in the dialog
The «Delete load» dialog opens: «Are you sure you want to delete load LD-XXXXXXXX? This action cannot be undone.»
Click the red «Delete» button to confirm, or «Cancel» to leave everything as it is. After confirmation the load leaves the operational list and moves to the «Deleted» tab, where it stays viewable but out of the workflow.
The «Delete» icon appears only on loads in «Draft» status. A load already dispatching or assigned cannot be deleted from here: at that point a carrier is involved and a transport order cancellation must be handled — see Requesting a transport order cancellation.
What happens next
- Edit: the updated draft stays in
Draftstatus, with the same code. No notification goes out: while it is a draft, the load is visible only to you and your company colleagues. - Duplicate: a new load is born in
Draft, separate from the original. Editing or deleting it does not touch the load you cloned it from. - Delete: the load moves to the «Deleted» tab. Deleting a draft generates no notifications: no carrier was seeing it, so there is no one to warn.
Impact on other roles
What the other side sees
Editing, duplicating or deleting a draft has no effect on the carriers in your network: a draft is not yet visible to any of them. Carriers come into play only when the load leaves the draft status, through dispatching or manual assignment.
